       JEMPEL is a research group directed by Prof. Ming Cheng who is an IEEE Fellow in the field of electrical machines and drives, and six distinguished professors of Southeast University. There are several Chang Jiang Scholars and about fifty post-doctors, PhD students and postgraduate students in JEMPEL. The researches cover the electrical motors, power electronics and its applications, such as renewable energy generation, electric vehicles, rail transit and servo-system, etc.

       JEMPEL conducts electrical machines and power electronics research in renewable energy generation, electric vehicles, rail transportation, and servo-system applications. JEMPEL has undertook over 90 projects, like National 973 Program, National 863 Program, key research project and international cooperation project with national support. JEMPEL has published more than 470 technical papers, of which 180 are included in SCI, and has applied for over 150 Chinese invention patents, of which 80 are issued patents.

       JEMPEL is committed to cultivate high-caliber talents in research areas of electric machines and control technology. With the philosophy "Striving for Perfection", JEMPEL has cultivated nearly 100 outstanding professionals.

       To enhance talents development and scientific research at an international level, all JEMPEL faculty members have an overseas education background and most PhD candidates have a joint training experience for at least one year. So far, JEMPEL has carried out many joint training and cooperation programs with renowned universities from America, Canada, England, France, Italy, Denmark, etc. Moreover, JEMPEL members actively join in various academic activities to discuss frontier issues and sharing with peer scientific achievements and experiences at home and abroad.
